This is the coat of arms of Johann Anton Freiherr von Quast that was painted in the Freiherren diploma that was issued in 1790 (source: «Freiherren-Diploma Johann Anton Freiherr von Quast 1790, Bayerisches Hauptstaatsarchiv, königlich-bayerisches Heroldsamt, Bd. 20-1 nr. 26»). This coat of arms has been emblazoned by me because the family needed a modern version that can be used digitally. Drawing a parallel between the coat of arms of Navarre that [[Menéndez Pidal de Navascués, F.; 1974]] transcribes for its original coat of arms as «Gules, a closed and pommetty carbuncle Or with an emerald...» I have characterized the pearl on the coat of arms as closed.
