Tierce

Separador heráldico
Escudo de Castilla y León

Tierce and tierce sinister are vertical divisions of the field. I use them as translations of the Castilian terms «adiestrado» and «siniestrado». The width of the tierce used to be 1/3 of the width of the field whislt the width of the «adiestrado» used to be 1/5 of the width of the field. Previously I used «pale in dexter flank» as a translation of «adiestrado», but notice that whislt «pale in dexter flank» is an «ordinary», «adiestrado» is a division of the field, and the rule of tinctures applies to ordinaries but not for the divisions of the field.

Tierce is a division of the field
