Gules, a base enarched Vert, overall a Latin cross patty fitchy Or, piercing in base the head of a serpent nowed and facing sinister Sable, langued Gules.

Coat of arms of Tomasz Arkadiusz Grzeszkowiak designed by Tomasz Steifer and interpreted by me in 4 approaches: 1) outlined; 2) tricking, using abbreviations; 3) hatching, using dots and lines; and 4) plain tinctures. The Polish heraldist Tomasz Steifer was one of the creators of International Heraldry Day. This coat of arms follows the Polish heraldic tradition, you can notice the color Vert over the color Gules, and also for them the Sable is not a color, then they can place a serpent Sable over the color Vert. The Serpent symbolizes the defeated Evil thus it looks at the Sinister in my interpretation.

Design rationale

• The stag trippant Gules came from the arms of the MacCarthy clan, also transcribed as McCarthy, but for difference attired and hoofed Sable, this Sable reflecting the peat-coloured soil of Gerryduff.
• The chief Sable also from Garryduff, called «An Garraí Dubh» in Irish, which means «the black garden», referring to the peat-coloured dark soil; it is the home place of Eugene McCarthy and his family for generations.
• The three geese volant Argent from the local parish of Monagae, «the bogland of the geese», and they are flying to sinister as the Irish people from the US return to their Ireland, flying east across the Atlantic Ocean, this symbolism also evokes the famous «Wild Geese» Irish of previous centuries who emigrated to mainland Europe and further afield to serve in the armies of France, Spain, and Austria, many of the name McCarthy included.
• A terrace in base Vert with a fess Or because these are the colours of the local GAA* football and hurling club, established in 1896, GAA means Gaelic Athletic Association.
• And the motto «An Garraí Dubh go Brách» means «Garryduff Forever».

These are the arms of Kelly Kathleen Knox, PhD, a retired military officer of the US Army and Air Force, primarily serving in medical and humanitarian roles, who served in two wars, was honored with the Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, among other distinctions, and was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame.
