The grant describes this cross as «Erminé». In English heraldry, a cross erminée is a cross formed of four ermine spots, not a cross covered with ermine fur, which would be blazoned a cross Ermine. Parker [Parker, J.; 1894] records that some heralds have blazoned as a cross erminée the cross of four ermine spots with their heads meeting at the centre. Just as I paint it in detail, I blazon it in detail, so that there is no room for doubt.
