The Arms of the President of Malta at the International Heraldry Exhibition «Tradition, Identity and Art»

Tierced per pale: 1 Or, upon a fess Azure a lion passant Gules holding a sword point upwards Argent [for Spiteri]; 2 Azure, upon a base Vert a tree eradicated proper, supported at sinister by a man proper wearing a loincloth Argent and holding in his sinister a spear point upwards Or and in chief three mullets of six points in fess Or [for Debono], 3 Gules, two hands clasped throughout proper, vested Argent, holding a dagger point upwards Argent, hilted Or, in chief three mullets of six points in fess Or and in base a sprig of olive fesswise proper [for Zammit]. Crest: Upon a helm, befitting her degree as President of Malta, with a wreath Or and Gules, an escutcheon Bleu celeste, issuant from a base wavy Argent, charged with three bars wavy Azure, three arches interlaced in fess Or. Mantling: Gules doubled Argent. Supporters: Two lions rampant Or, langued Gules, terraced by a mound Vert. Motto: «Servire Cum Modestia». The shield is surrounded by the Xirka Gieh ir-Repubblika and the Grand Collar of Malta's National Order of Merit, as Head of both.

I am very pleased to share that the International Heraldry Exhibition «Tradition, Identity and Art» has opened at the Vilnius Region Ethnographic Museum in Nemencine, Lithuania. Organised by the Institute of Genealogy, Heraldry and Vexillology (GHVI) as part of the celebration of its fifth anniversary, the exhibition brings together heraldic works from nine countries: Brazil, Spain, the US, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, North Macedonia, Romania and Sweden. The exhibition presents heraldry as a living artistic and cultural tradition, bringing together history, genealogy, art and identity through personal, family, noble, religious and institutional coats of arms, heraldic flags, ex libris and other works related to heraldic and symbolic culture. Nemencine is the 1^st stage of this travelling exhibition, where it will remain on display until 15 October. It will then continue its journey through Lithuania, opening in Anykšciai on 17 October and subsequently in Panevežys on 2 December. I am particularly honoured that among the works selected for this exhibition is my emblazonment of the personal coat of arms of Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, Grant G0134 by Dr Charles A. Gauci, Chief Herald of Arms of Malta. My sincere thanks to the GHVI and especially to its President, Remigijus Bimba, for once again including my heraldic work in this international project and for giving it the opportunity to travel with the exhibition through Lithuania.
