The ancient arms of the family Tamburelli, Lords of Pietra Gravina, as used by Don Eugenio Ugo Augusto Tamburelli, emblazoned by me. In Italy, numerous coats of arms bear an eagle displayed Sable on a chief Or, clearly derived from the imperial arms «Or, an eagle displayed Sable». These chiefs, known as the «capo dell’Impero», originated in the context of the Guelph and Ghibelline conflicts, being adopted by supporters of the Holy Roman Empire as a sign of allegiance, the Ghibelline. In the case of Pietragavina, the reference is particularly significant, as the site is recorded in an imperial diploma of Frederick Barbarossa (1164), thus indicating a direct historical connection with imperial authority, which may well justify the presence of such an augmentation in the arms.

Coat of arms of Tomasz Arkadiusz Grzeszkowiak designed by Tomasz Steifer and interpreted by me using dots and lines, this method is called hatching, it was useful for black and white illustrations. For the hatching I follow Silvester Petra Sancta (1634 without the purple and 1638 with the purple) and Marcus Vulson de la Colombière (1639): metals) Or = dots, and Argent = pure white; colors) Gules = vertical lines, Vert = diagonal lines bendwise, and Sable = squares. For the historical definition of this type of hatching techniques, see [Petra Sancta, S.; 1634; pages 313–314].
