G0076, Chief Herald of Arms of Malta's grant of Claes Zangenberg's arms, whose coat of arms has been emblazoned by me. The Castilian «pila» I render in English as «Pile issuant from base», following [Académie internationale d'héraldique; 1952; figure 121]. Friar [Friar S.; 1997; page 15] writes it as «Pile reversed issuant from the base», but in [Friar S.; 1997; page 250], when transcribing a grant of the College of Arms of London, he uses «Pile issuant from the base». Other authors also refer to it simply as «Pile reversed». I prefer «Pile issuant from base».
